Why Get a Tutor and How to Get Started
Why Get a Tutor? Learning loss is always seen across grade levels as students continue to struggle to catch up from the previous grades or suffer from "summer slide" each summer. Help your child avoid getting even more behind by starting tutoring sessions right away, especially with reading tutors and math tutors. We tutor students all year long in-person or online. Don't keep assuming your child will catch up without getting help of some kind other than just what they are getting in the classroom. We can help!
How to Get Started: First, go to the Tutor Hub tab by clicking here. You will find lists of tutors organized by grade level and subject area. Choose a tutor that you think will be a good fit for your child's needs and your schedule. IF YOU NEED HELP FINDING A TUTOR, CONTACT ME AND I WILL HELP YOU. I can help guide you in the right direction and answer any questions you may have about tutoring.

Most reading or math tutors will complete an assessment on the child prior to starting actual sessions or will ask you or the teacher for data showing the child's progress in class. We can use that information to offer suggestions and share resources for you to use to help your child learn and grow. YOU can sign up as a student as well - learn a new language, improve your computer skills, improve your writing skills, the list goes on and on! Our motto - Never Stop Learning!

I am a National Board Certified, licensed teacher with over 24 years of teaching experience. I taught in the classroom for Wilson County Schools for 15 years before I began Education Exchange in July 2015. I returned to my home school in 2019 to continue serving as an educator. My goal is to help as many people as I can with any type of educational needs they have within our community and beyond.

Students will grow academically and get the confidence they need to become independent learners.
Having taught for 24 years has given me lots of experiences with educational resources - both good AND not-so-good. You can trust my recommendations and guidance when deciding on the resources that will work best for you.

Tutoring Policy for Education Exchange
Payment Policy/Options & Refund Policy
Please make sure to discuss the tutoring policy and procedures of the tutor you choose. My policy states that all sessions should be paid in advance at least 24 hours. Paying prior to the day of the session helps ensure the schedule runs smoothly for myself and students/parents. You may cancel or reschedule tutoring sessions with no penalty up to 24 hours before the scheduled session. If you cancel or reschedule less than 24 hours of the session, I reserve the right to charge a $25 cancellation fee that must be paid before the next tutoring session. If your child is late to a session or leaves the session early, you will still be charged the full amount for the session. No refund or credit will be given if you do not call to cancel. You will be charged for the session using the credit card on file or with your prepayment. Education Exchange, LLC reserves the right to cancel sessions at any time and will not charge a client if that happens. If for some reason you must discontinue sessions, you may be refunded any prepayments, minus any late fees or other payments owed.
There are several options for paying for sessions:
1) You can call 919-669-6640 to pay over the phone during business hours.
2) You can leave a credit card on file. You will not be charged until the session time so this option helps skip the prepayment requirement. Remember you will be charged if you do not call to cancel. (See statement above)
3) You can receive invoices via email.
Scheduling Guidelines
It is strongly recommended that you schedule your child's session a week in advance. The majority of the tutors in the Tutor Hub, as well as myself, are licensed educators that are still in a classroom. This gives the tutor plenty of time to prepare for their tutoring sessions along with their normal classroom responsibilities. Trying to schedule a session within 24 or 48 hours will not guarantee there will be a spot available nor a specific tutor available for your child. Remember if you are unable to make a prepayment 24 hours in advance you should probably reschedule.

Each tutor has contact information within their posted description. Some tutors may have some basic paperwork for clients to complete prior to starting. They may also prefer to complete assessments before your child will be added to their schedule
